15. Grove Park fayre
Grove park fayre
Hi !
The unit was invited to help out at the Grove park dog show. The first day we helped pack all the things for the fayre into a truck and put tents and the stage up. The second day we had our own stall and tried to raise funds that way.
Day 1
At 10:30 am we went to Mottingham Scout Hall. At the scout hall there was a lot of tents and other things we had to put in the big truck. There were 6 of us on the first day ( big George, Eleanor, Leo, Edward, the other Leo an me ). When we got there there was this man called Ramakin, he made us do these strange breathing warmups. Everyone was laughing but he seemed very serious. It was very strange but we ran with it. Then Naomi and Claire came. We then carried lots of things into the truck including things like fridges, wooden walls and tents. Claire and Naomi were also there on the first day. After we finished packing we drove to Chinbrook meadows that was only a few were the event was being held. We helped set up the stage and put up the tents. We then went into a big gazebo to have lunch. It was nice him thinking of us but the lunch consisted of cheese biscuits, hot sauce and humous. We then left at 3:00pm and went home.
Day 2
On the second day we arrived at the fayre at 10:30 am again. We set up all our games and things like that.
The whole theme of the dog show was pirates, so I made a pirate tin can alley. I saved all the cans from home and printed out some pirate pictures and stuck them on the can. We used the nerf guns to shoot them down but in the end we just used bean bags as it worked better. Today other people were here ( Joseph, Thomas, Isaac, Leo, other Leo, big George, Eleanor, Edward and Me ). We all got on really well. On the other hand we didn't get that many people come to our stall. But it picked up later on in the day. We brought along packed lunch this time. After lunch Eleanor, Thomas and I went out with a donation bucket and some of the tattoos to try and raise more money. This worked very well and the tattoos worked a treat.
After this we packed away all the activities and games. My dad turned up a bit early and helped out which was nice. We then got all the stuff; said thank you' s and helped Jake with the tents and stuff up to his car before heading down to ours and leaving.
The fayre overall worked well and it felt good helping them to set it all up. I can't wait for the next event !
