25. Culture day meet
Culture day meet
Hi !
Today the unit met up and talked about the culture day and what we are going to do along with some Christmas games and a few more things.
We were first put into mini patrols for the day when arriving at around 10am. We were then had to play the human knot game after having flag break which was fun as everyone kinda gave up after they said we all had to do it as a massive group which was wayyy to difficult.
Next they split everyone into two groups doing different activities. First we had the ex Jamboree unit bring along all their scarves, badges etc they had traded.
This was a real eye opener to see all the amazing things I could be trading when in South Korea. The next activity we had was what sort of things we should bring along and any questions we had the ex participants. This was great as they had actually been there before so they could advise us on things we should and shouldn't take with us.
After this we had a break and all went outside for a bit
We then went back inside and still had a few minutes to burn so we found a piano and some people started playing it.
Next we brainstormed ideas for the culture day. We tried thinking of iconic British things such as:
We finally singled it down to:
- Playing British bulldog
- dressed up as crusaders
- make the people queue
- Make beans on toast for them
- play some iconic British music
Some of the activities we decided on doing were:
- Water rolling
- Earth ball
- demolition
-vertical assault course
Next we had a break with pass the parcel and some hot chocolate with mice pies
Finally we sat back down into our teams and had a Christmas quiz. This was really funny as barely anyone knew any of the questions. Our team did well on some but not so much on the others.
After every round there was obviously a winning team and the losing team. Our team won one of the rounds which meant we got some chocolate coins and this Korean chocolate called ' choco boy '
The next round we didnt do to well on meaning we had to take the punishment; MEAL WORMS!!!
I had always wanted to try them before and see what they tasted like and if they were really that bad. I was quite happy trying them but I dont think very many other people were. They tasted a little like hazelnuts and had a quite strange after taste but it was all part of the experience so I had seconds. After this we packed up, said thank you and headed home.
It was a brilliant day and I can't wait until the next event with the unit !
