35. Wilberforce day event

 Wilberforce day event

Hi !

Today we went to Wilberforce Scout activity centre to have a Unit meet. The day mainly consisted of talking but we went outside to have lunch and try out some pioneering.

My dad had dropped me of slightly early as he had another event on. Naomi asked me to take the big pioneer poles from the storage and I put them around the side of the building so we could do the pioneering later. Soon people started to come and we chatted for a bit until we were called outside and fell in to be greeted by the leaders. Jake and Dean could not make it that day so there was some IST and other leaders there.

We split into patrols and first we were in the building and sorted out what we wanted to in Korea. We used our phones and a laptop to research activities and experiences such as going to markets, monuments and theme parks etc. After spending around 30 minutes we swapped around and watched a video about the inclusiveness of the Jamboree and explaining what different terms meant and how to refer to people at the jamboree. We had a few discussions and talked to it with Naomi.

We then had lunch. It was really nice to catch up with people and see them. After this we split back up into patrols and started pioneering. I found the pioneering fun because it was tricky but was pretty cool after we completed it. We made a bridge that was only supported by itself which was crazy.

Next we sat down and spoke to a previous jamboree attendee and we asked lots of questions and he suggested a few things to take and what he would have done differently. This was very intriguing.

Finaly we sat down with the IST and talked about relationships on the Jamboree with friends etc and how our moods will change over the time of the jamboree and how everyone's emotions will be a whirlwind during this adventure of a lifetime.

We put everything away before the parents came and there was a presentation to everyone with updates information such as hotels, food, equipment and facilitates.

We are almost 1 month away from the jamboree and I am extremely excited!!
